Summer can be a strange season for high achievers. In past years, I’ve felt what I would call the summer slump—a season when momentum faded and focus felt harder to maintain.
You’re still working hard, but the rhythm shifts. Travel picks up. Teams operate at half-strength. Schedules get less predictable. And without meaning to, it’s easy to lose focus on the goals that matter most.
This year feels different.
It’s not because I’m doing more. It’s because I’m more aligned, more intentional, and more grounded than I’ve been in a long time.
Here’s what changed and how you can avoid the summer slump by leading yourself with clarity, structure, and strategy.
Instead of creating a long list of objectives, I zoomed in on a few meaningful priorities. That clarity made decision-making easier and progress more measurable.
Your move: Revisit your annual goals. Which ones still matter? Which ones feel out of sync with where you are now?
I stopped chasing what others were doing. I let go of strategies that didn’t fit. That allowed me to double down on what I actually want to build, both in my business and in my life.
Your move: Take time to realign your vision. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but it should reflect your next level, not someone else’s.
This year, I’ve been intentional about spending time with people who give me energy. That includes clients, collaborators, and even social connections.
Your move: Audit your calendar. Who energizes you? Who drains you? Adjust accordingly.
Even in a full season, I carved out time to think strategically instead of only serving clients. That space has been a game-changer.
Your move: Block one hour a week to reflect, plan, and lead your business like a CEO.
Every Friday, I track my metrics, reflect on lessons learned, and plan for the week ahead. It has become a non-negotiable ritual that keeps me centered.
Your move: Pick a time each week to pause, review, and reset. Don’t just track what you did. Track what worked.
I am not relying on willpower. I am following a strategy. When you know what to do next, it is easier to show up, especially when distractions increase.
Your move: Don’t let summer happen to you. Decide what progress looks like and build a plan that supports it.
One small example: I’ve consistently hit my 10,000 steps per day. It’s not flashy, but it builds discipline and energy.
Your move: What is one simple habit that could anchor your energy this summer?
You do not need a full reset to avoid the summer slump.
But a few intentional shifts—more clarity, better structure, and stronger alignment—can change everything about how you show up.
If the season is already starting to feel off, don’t wait until fall to refocus. Pause, recalibrate, and take back the lead.
