Achieving Success: Rewriting Negative Thoughts for an Achievement Mindset

We are well into the fourth and final quarter of 2023. No matter where you are on the goal achievement journey or what your projected status is for this year’s goals (you’re going to CRUSH it or you feel so off-track, why even bother?), you can finish the year strong by developing an achievement mindset. An achievement mindset will help you break free from negative thinking and unlock your full potential for personal and professional growth.

I will be sharing the key to transforming your mindset and achieving success. Let’s discover how to overcome limiting beliefs, shift your perspective, and develop the habits and strategies necessary for achieving greatness, together.

Mindset Tip One – Change Can’t to Can: Recognize Negative Thoughts

Negative thoughts are the invisible enemy that can blind us from seeing our full potential. They often brew inside our minds in the form of self-doubt, perfectionism, or comparison, secretly undermining our confidence and weakening our resolve. The importance of recognizing these thoughts can’t be overstated as the first step towards mindset transformation is awareness.

I know that I’ve been guilty of feeding myself negative stories that belittle my own capabilities, but in recognizing this mental hurdle I was able to challenge and overcome it. So, I encourage you to not be afraid to confront your fears and doubts that could be holding you back.

Mindset Tip Two – Create a Personal Development Plan

A personal development plan (PDP) is a personalized map of growth mechanisms that help you constantly evolve and advance. It could include reading enlightening books, hearing insightful podcasts, or consulting a coach. The role of a PDP is essentially to provide an environment that encourages growth, learning, and improvement, and I strongly encourage you to have one in place.

Consuming the right content and seeking out the correct mentors nurtures an achievement mindset. After all, continuous learning is key to personal and professional evolution.

Mindset Tip Three – Have a Bounce Back Plan

When things don’t go as planned, we have a tendency to focus on the rejection and negativity, which leads to feelings of self-doubt. Instead, implement a bounce back plan that will help shift your mindset. A successful bounce back plan has two parts – number one, engaging in an activity that makes you feel great or successful (working out, listening to your favorite song, or connecting with your favorite client). The point is to do something right away that is going to shift your energy. And number two, consider the story you’ve started to tell yourself and take one action in the opposite direction. For example, if you’re starting to let yourself believe that you don’t have what it takes to build a business, go out and set a prospecting meeting.

A bounce back plan allows you to intentionally shift your mindset and take action, which leads to confidence.

Remember that you have a choice to stay in a negative headspace, overthink, and limit action, or you can shift your mindset and get back into control. Developing an achievement mindset starts with addressing and rewriting negative mental narratives, creating a personal development plan, and implementing a bounce back plan for when things don’t go as expected.

However, if you’re looking for additional support on your journey to cultivating an achievement mindset, I have something exciting I want to share with you. We are launching the Goal Setting Success Course next month that will help you demystify goal setting and goal achieving.
